Life Lately, Vol. 6

Happy Friday! My favorite part about a long weekend is the short work week after. This one flew by! We don’t have any major plans this weekend which is perfect because we’re dog sitting a friend’s golden, still unpacking/doing laundry, getting our home in order & preparing for our upcoming bachelor & bachelorette parties (mine is next weekend!)

Writing: Iceland travel guides! So far I’m working on 2 excursions (tour companies, sites, etc.), Iceland tips & what to wear. Trust me, there’s a lot to know before you go. Anything else you’d like to see?

Cooking: Well, pickling. It ain’t your grandma’s hobby anymore. I made a batch of pickled red onions a couple of weeks ago and we are obsessed! One of my favorite spring salads is arugula, pickled red onion, sliced apple, walnuts & goat cheese. If you haven’t tried it, get on this! Next up I’d love to try pickled beets & asparagus – any tips?

Desperately wanting: a new sofa. When T & I moved in together, we did the classic combination of items, so naturally we have 2 random sofas. Our living room space is pretty large, so I’ve been wanting to sell both of ours and buy a new sofa & two arm chairs. While I typically prefer ivory/cream colored sofas, we’ll likely switch to a gray one due to our dog’s (black) shedding hair. The hard part is that we may be moving in a few months, so I’m debating do I wait or do I pull the trigger? Below are a few styles I like…

Reading: My french book. Omg y’all French is so dang hard! I’ve got the classroom work book, an app & a CD that I’ve been working with but it’s really difficult. It’s basically the opposite of Spanish (pronunciation styles), which I studied in school, making it extra difficult. Wish I had started this younger!

Craving: The ocean. Now I realize that I we just came home from vacation; however, I crave warm sun & ocean water (it’s in my Southern blood) and I’ve got the itch real bad. I desperately NEED to lay on a beach, read a book & fall asleep with my toes in the sand. I’m hoping it will be warm in Boston the next few weekends so we can squeeze in a beach day! Fingers crossed.
