One Kings Lane Art (under $500)

A few weeks back I was SOOOO excited when I came home and a huge FedEx package was on my front door step. I opened it up and this beauty was inside:

Isn’t she gorgeous?!

I really wasn’t sure what to put over the bed- part of me wanted a Gray Malin, part of my wanted an abstract piece, and part of me wanted a DIY to save cost. After all, I’m in a rental. So I thought long & hard about it and decided that I wanted a reasonably priced beach piece that had meaning. This one is just perfect! It was within my budget and the aerial shot is of San Sebastian, Spain. I’ve spent multiple summers in Spain and I’ve been to this beach, so this picture brings back such happy memories!

If you’re looking for some great ready-to-hang art pieces, I suggest you check out One Kings Lane. Here are a few of my favorites (all under $500!):

Friday’s Faves: Miami Edition

Happy Friday y’all! I am headed down to beautiful, warm, sunny Miami for the weekend! Woo Hoo!! I’ll be joining 11 other girlfriends to celebrate one of my oldest friends & college roommate for her bachelorette party. We’ve got lots of sunbathing, dancing & celebrating to do. I can’t wait!

Favorite Faucets.

When designing a kitchen, one area that is always seems to be a focal point is the faucet! It’s not an area to skimp on, and it can certainly be a “show stopper”! Whether you choose chrome or gold, single or dual handle, classic or oversized, pull out of pull down spray…the opportunities are endless! I find that it’s best not to overthink it. Find a few inspirational pictures that speak to you and find one within your price range. Here are a few of my favorites…

Gender Neutral Office.

Hi y’all! Sorry I was MIA yesterday- after a 3 day wedding weekend with friends and a 5am wakeup call for the airport then heading straight to work, I was in total zombie mode! I somehow managed through work, laundry, grocery shopping and a 90 minute crossfit class….and then crashed. Hard.

Ha! Any french bulldog picture makes me happy 🙂

So this morning I want to share some info on a mini-project I’m working on: the gender neutral office. Whether you’re living together, married, a bachelor, or just aren’t into the girly office spaces, have no fear…you can still have a gorgeous, classic space that’s gender neutral! Here are some examples of how to achieve this look:

Loving the desk tone & leather chair combo here…

Obsessed with this idea of dark built-ins & french doors…

If both of you are using the office, love the double pendants…

Board & batten is always a nice design touch on a big, blank wall…

Not my favorite look below, but I enjoy the shelves & the rug…

Fireplace Mantle Inspiration.

First off, thank you all SO much for the feedback on Monday’s fireplace post & on Tuesdays twin bedroom post. Between this blog and Instagram, I have had a lot of really positive, encouraging feedback. I can’t express how grateful I am for all of this. I’m always very nervous and self conscious with my designs since I’m not a formally trained “designer”. But your encouragement keeps me believing that I can do this!

On that note, I’m here to follow up from Monday’s fireplace post! I’ve decided that I will 100% be attempting the DIY stacked wood fireplace insert. Has anyone given it a shot before? All tips welcome!

Now that I’ve go the fireplace interior figured out, I want to focus on the mantle. We are one of those households that has the TV mounted above the fireplace (mixed feelings on that one, but given the lack of space in Boston, it’s a necessity around here). So I’ve been gathering inspiration on tasteful, classic mantle decor that won’t look too crowded with a big ole TV above it….

Love the idea of two simple, symmetrical items like these sconces or candles…

Twin bed guest room.

For those of you who missed this post, I’m helping a family in Newport furnish & decorate their new home. They’ve got a guest bedroom with two twin beds that is currently empty. They’ve already picked out two white bed frames so I won’t have total creative freedom (cue the tears); however, I’ve been pulling a lot of fantastic rooms for inspiration! Long gone are the days of twin bedrooms being childlike. These guest rooms are modern, stylish & sophisticated:
